Best wishes for 2011!

Dear TLF members,

Best wishes for the New Year 2011 from all of us here at TT!

Thank you all for your pleasant collaboration as we worked on various projects last year - and hope 2010 was fruitful to everyone.

You notice we had reduced TLF activity in the second half of the 2010; a busy period for most of the members. This year, we aim at organising our monthly meets for translation software training and inviting guests to talk to us issues related to translation. Watch this space....!

Please note that the SDL Trados special offer came to a close on 31 December 2010. We are now talking to SDL on preferring special rates for translators in the Africa our region and will let you know the new rates for those who are still keen to purchase the software. Congratulations to all the members who acquired the software.

Finally, how about this quote from a recent survey by ATA December 2010 Newsbriefs:

U.S. News & World Report has rated translation and interpreting as one of the 50 best careers to pursue in 2011. The magazine’s annual review of high-opportunity professions has become a go-to resource for school guidance counselors, college students, job-seekers, and anyone who is considering a career change.

To come up with this year's top jobs list, U.S. News considered job-growth projections, salary data, educational requirements, and market demand. Labor and industry experts also weighed in with stats on employment prospects and job satisfaction.

Good luck!
