TLF meeting 15 October 2009, 5.30-6.30pm_Venue: TT office

Its finally here....! Thank you for the strong enthusiasm you have all shown towards participating in this month's Tamarind Linguists' Forum meeting set for this Thursday 15th October, 5.30pm. The event will also be a celebration of the World Translators’ Day usually marked on 30 September. The topic of the day has elicited a lot of interesting feedback and promises to be an enriching and first step towards the vision of having a Translators' body in Kenya. TT Managing Director, Mrs. Britt-Marie Seex, who is also a seasoned translator in Sweden, is in the country and will be in attendance. She passes her regards and looks forward to meeting all of you, especially for those who will be seeing her for the first time. Mrs. Seex has served on the Board of the Translators' Association in Sweden and will be glad to share her experiences with us. Here are some of the broad ideas we have received and that will inform this interactive session: * World Translators Day & the increasing professionalisation of translation *Advantages of the Associative Approach- best practices from SATI/ATA /Sweden etc (Welfare, Personal & Professional development, Sustainable career mapping, other??) * Way Forward (Vision, Awareness Creation, Documentation, Partnership etc) Refreshments & Snacks to be served. Please keep time and for those who have not confirmed RVSP by Wednesday 14 Oct 2009 5pm! Karibu, welcome, bienvenus.....
